We were assigned into groups of four and were asked to find the murderer from a crime scene. The crime that was committed was the death of Captain Cornball who had a dinner party with people that were connected to him in one way or another. We had to find out who his murderer was by given events and procedures on how to figure out who did it. We started with finding the pedigrees from each person at the crime scene to see if they had any diseases or disorders. Then we had a fingerprint found on broken glass also at the crime scene, so we did a DNA-fingerprint test that lifted the print using fluorescent powder and lifter film, and since it is a fluorescent lift, it will need a microlight as the light source. So we compared print to prints taken from suspects at crime scene. We also did a DNA:PCR test which tested specific locations of regions of DNA which vary between people, and used PCR amplify certain locations on the DNA with the process called gel electrophoresis to separate DNA fragments by size, the regions were labeled with dye to make them visible and then were compared patterns from lab with patterns gathered from the crime scene. We also did a blood type, blood samples from each suspect were given to police for investigation and they found O on and A on samples from the crime scene,Captain C was of course stabbed so we suspected his blood to match and we were correct, he has O. When we went to the crime scene we found this note on a napkin with black writing, stating “ur a dead man”. We brought the note into our lab and tested the ink. Our results came out that the pen belonged to both Sam and Norma. We feel that they collaborated to commit this murder.
Evidence: -fingerprint -blood on a knife -shattered glass -a note with ink -hair sample |
